Brenda Beebe began hand-making cotton yoga mats in 1983 in San Francisco, CA. Rooted in the belief that personal practice and development would change the world for the better, Brenda began to share her well-designed and beautiful products with yoga teachers and students. As popularity of her products spread, she decided to create a web platform to sell them - and thus yogamats.com was born. Teaming up with like minded designers, she began to offer an entire range of high quality and sustainable products including yoga mats, blocks, and belts. Now, while Brenda may no longer hand sew our products herself, our pillows are still infused with the same intentions that our company was founded on those many years ago - to improve the state of our planet by improving the quality of our practices.

Bill Stark and Liz Warburton met Brenda in early 2014, after discovering their love of her products. Realizing that there were several obstacles to accessing her product line, given the standards of forward-thinking consumers, they decided they wanted to help. They added new fabric choices, modernized the ecommerce platform, and have made the products more accessible to the wide range of practitioners. But why? In essence, to share the magic. They came together under circumstances of serendipity, and their work together has been a blessing. Louisa May Alcott once said that it take two flints to make a fire. We’d like to attest that the more flints the merrier, and the greater the fire.
